WHAT WE BELIEVE IN

CORE VALUES

Justice

We aim to address unjust practices in the educational context, as ACLP was founded in response to observed and studied injustices that students of the African diaspora experience in schools: racism, lack of resources for quality education, cultural exclusion from curricula and instruction, dismissal of their intelligence and value, bullying and stereotypes tied to their origins.

Excellence

We encourage excellence among students of the African diaspora. Our support allows students to see and embrace their limitless potential.

Collaboration

We promote collaborative environments for students and staff through teamwork, support, mentorship, and exchange of ideas to empower our internal and external communities and accelerate problem-solving.

Respect

We reinforce the importance of self-respect, respect for one another, and for what everyone brings to the table to promote open expression and broadened perspectives.

EmPathy

We teach through a perspective of understanding and compassion of our students’ gifts and struggles, with the belief that all children can learn and excel when provided a nurturing environment that empowers them to envision a better future for themselves and their communities.

Solidarity

We combine our minds to position students for success, to strengthen our organization, and to sustain ACLP’s work for the long term.

Innovation

We encourage students and staff to be innovative and embrace their unique ideas and pride ourselves on being a team composed of diverse and distinctive minds to address urgent educational issues.
