Lead TuTor

(~7 hours a week) 

Start Date: September 1, 2020

End Date: May 2, 2021

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Job Responsibilities

  • Review ACLP Curriculum with Curriculum Developer and  Program Director 

  • Coordinate with Program Director to provide the structure of the ACLP sessions

  • Lead ACLP sessions with the support of ACLP volunteers

  • Each session will run for 1 hour once a week (with an additional 30 minutes of office hours) 

  • Delegate tasks to volunteers at all ACLP sessions

  • Supervise and monitor students.

  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, and abilities. 

  • Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement.

  • Keep a running record of students and volunteer attendance

  • Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.

  • Review ACLP feedback forms, assess growth and develop goals for the next semester

Required skills

  • Ability to work with high school students

  • Ability to develop positive rapport with students

  • Excellent communication, leadership, time management, and conflict resolution skills

  • Working knowledge of Google G Suites 

  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Proficient in proofreading, spelling, and grammar punctuation

  • Flexibility with regard to work environment

  • Availability to attend training and job orientation

  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience, and dependability  

  • Creativity and problem solving skills 

  • Public speaking skills
